With deep sadness, the editorial board of GAIA announces the passing of co-editor, Beate Jessel.

On April 13, 2026, Beate Jessel, long-time co-editor of GAIA, passed away.

Beate Jessel has left a great void. 
The Verein Gaia, the GAIA editorial board, 
the publishing house, and the GAIA editorial team 
are deeply grateful to her
for her dedication to the journal 
and will always honour her memory.
